The Life of Mother Annie Lee Jones

Annie Lee Jones was born on May 22, 1925 in Kinston, NC. She departed this life on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at her home in the comfort of her family. Annie obtained her best education through life experiences and was always eager to learn. She met the love of her life, Raymond Earl Jones and to this union was born six beautiful children. Later relocating to Plainfield, New Jersey in 1968, where she made everyone feel welcomed to call her house their home. She was a homemaker, A Devoted Wife, Mother, Beloved Grandmother, Great Grandmother & Great-Great Grandmother. She was a member of the Refuge Church of Christ later named The Greater Refuge Church of Christ, Inc., where she served as a doorkeeper on the Usher Board and was the Auxiliary’s Treasurer, Senior Missionary, Church Mother and actively participated in many areas of the church including the love for Sunday School.
Mother Jones was Chair of the Greater Outreach Program, where every second Friday of each month she would lead a group of church members to the YMCA of Plainfield, New Jersey and provide a home cooked meal to less fortunate community members. In addition, Mother Jones was well known for helping parents in the community that were not able to afford day care. She opened her home to those in need with no questions asked.
Mother Jones had an unparalleled passion and dedication to helping others. She had a warm and welcoming heart. To be in the midst of her presence it created a calm, caring and loving atmosphere, regardless of what was taking place around you. She had an astonishing motherly love about her that made others feel welcomed and loved. She is truly missed. Mother Jones is survived by her one son, four daughters, two foster daughters, 14 grand children, 26 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, two brothers and four sisters.
